Bio
I live in Stratford upon Avon, U.K and have been tatting since the age of 13 when I was taught by my grandmother. I love bright colours and fun things to make having suffered a deprived earlier tatting life!!! I am far too lazy to look in my 100 + books for patterns to tat and would rather sit in front of the television or computer and make something up for myself!!

Long Class

Diamond Motif / Patchwork - quite a challenging piece but VERY interesting. Found a new way of starting a SCMR with two colours and no knots!!

It will be a diamond motif using the Self Closing Mock Ring. Several of these diamonds can be combined in different ways to make a patchwork mat or quilt. Each diamond is defined by a second colour which then gives a ‘stained glass’ look to a finished mat and is worked in one round. A technique for starting a pattern with a Self Closing Mock Ring without a knot will be given at the start of the lesson.

Pre-requisites/Level: A knowledge of the Self Closing Mock Ring will be required although this can be covered too.

Materials:
Coloured threads (I used Altin Basak for the bright colours but any firm cotton thread will do), 2 shuttles, fine crochet hook.

Short class

Funny Face Bookmark - The basics for this children’s bookmark will be given in this class. Lots of Split Rings are used and a downwards facing picot (or Riet called them "inward facing picots). Also shown will be an easy way to judge the size of a picot needed when adding beads or buttons later in the pattern. Hopefully students will be able to eventually enlarge on the basic pattern to make their own faces.

Pre-requisites/Level: A knowledge of the Split Ring and adding beads to picots. The downward facing picot (using the rick rack or Victorian ‘sets’ method) will be shown. Also to be included will be a way to add beads or buttons to a picot using a safety pin to enable an accurate length.

Materials
No. 20 thread (2 colours), buttons or beads (1/4” and or 1/8”) to add to very long picots, very small beads, 3 safety pins, fine crochet hook.
