I am a confirmed Needle Tatter.
I attempted the shuttle years ago but I couldn't get the hang of it.
And so I gave up.
Then one day a few years later I watched a needle-tatting demo on TV.
Inspired by what I saw, I armed myself with Handy Hands' instructional book
Learn Needle-Tatting Step by Step and a set of tatting needles. Taught
myself to make tatted lace. It was easy and I was hooked.
Only 5 months later, I shared my new skill with a friend, who was very
interested in learning this art and so I taught her. She was thrilled and
told others about it and more teaching followed. First in a a couple
of craft stores and then in my home studio.
Eventually I was intrigued by the challenge of designing my own patterns.
I joined a crafting group online; finding a group of enthusiastic
and supportive tatters.
I enjoy adding beads, buttons and charms to my tatting.
I also use a crochet hook to facilitate joins in my tatting, wherever
it's hard to make a needle join. The crochet hook makes it much
easier.
I am totally hooked on tatting! I also add tatting to my cards.
