Class 1 with Karen Miner
Vintage Shell and Moonstone Pendant & Earrings, Friday, 2:00 to 5:00
Shuttle, Advanced, Project

Description
The Vintage Shell and Moonstone Pendant and Earrings are designed with the new trend in jewelry in mind that incorporates thread in with the jewelry. This pretty pendant and earring set will work well year round with an adjustable chain to fit over your turtlenecks in the winter months.

The round shell pendant flanked with moonstone cabochons creates a spell bound pendant with layered tatting tatted in a single piece of tatting with three shuttles. Adorned with two other pieces of tatting, beads, and pearls, you will create a pendant and pair of earrings to be proud of. Such a fun set to add to your jewelry collection.

The earrings work well with the pendant but stand alone if you just don’t feel up to wearing a full set of jewelry. As with the pendant, the earrings will have shell and moonstone cabochons and will be embellished with beads and pearls. The earrings will be a mirrored pair for that finished look.

Project
To complete the pendant and earrings there will be seven small pieces of tatting.

  • A chain with beads will create the three bezels for the shell cabochons.
  • One small flower to create a bezel around one of the moonstones on the pendant.
  • Three layered pieces of tatting - one for each of the earrings and the remainder for the pendant.

Skill Level
Advanced: The Tatter should have the skills to work with chains, rings, padded tatting, non-flipped double stitch, multiple shuttles, beads in tatting or other elements added to tatting for embellishment and the Tatter does not mind working with needle and thread for attaching tatting to background.

Supplies

  • Five shuttles. Note: One shuttle will be paired with a ball of thread. The beads will be on the ball thread. Then three shuttles, two with beads on them and one thread only for the layered tatting. Then there is one shuttle with thread only.
  • Crochet hook.
  • Scissors
  • Magnifier glasses, Bug Eyes or other means of magnification.
  • Kit that can be purchased for $20 in the vending area. The kit should be purchased prior to class and beads will be strung on size 80 tatting thread and wrapped around a paper bobbin. It will be necessary for the Tatter to transfer the provided threads on to their favorite shuttles. There will be beads on the three layered pieces of tatting. There will be beads on the small flower and then beads will be used off the ball thread for the three bezels.

Kit contains:

    • Leather cut outs
    • Semi-Precious Cabochons, *(N) quality, attached to leather and ready to go.
    • Sterling Silver Earring Wires, for pierced ears. If you do not have pierced ears please contact Karen and she will have non-pierced backs for you.

Shuttle, Beginner & Intermediate, Project

Description
In this fun and functional class you will enjoy making a fashion statement with the Drop Cabochon Chandelier Earrings.
