Answers to Frequently Asked Questions about Palmetto Tat Day

  1. Tat Day Show 'n Tell
Tatting is Always Welcome at Tat Gatherings! We expect and want to see all sorts of show and tells - whether judged or not - whether displayed on fancy boards or pulled out of a pocket. Do Please Bring Tatting of All Types!
  2. Yes, we'll be taking registrations at the door the morning of the event. (McKissick Museum, University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC, April 5th, 9a.m.) But to receive the reduced rate of $20, registrations must arrive by mail before March 25th.
  3. Is there a separate fee for each class?
What is the entry fee for the competitions? Is that per entry ?
What is the cost for lunch?
What's the trolley fee from the hotel to the museum?
Honest, the answer is $20. . . includes classes, lunch, trolley etc. And there are no fees to enter an item by mail in the Tatting Competition (just postage).
No additional fees anywhere . . . just whatever you choose to spend at the vendors. We have been able to do this for three reasons:
First: Wonderful volunteer teachers like Mark Myers, Dianna Stevens, Waleska Sosa, Riet Surtel, Donald Moser, Abby Small, Pam Esberg and Betty Magill!
Second: Sales of the book the guild wrote as a fundraiser for this event have been great! Read about Butterflies Migrating at http://www.georgiaseitz.com/reviews/palmetto.html and http://www.hhtatting.com/detail.cfm?ID=612
Third: A Grant from Lexington/Richland County Cultural Council.
  4. Yes, there is still time to reserve a room at the discounted rate at the Holiday Inn. But to do this, you must call the hotel between 9-5 EST, and ask to speak to Vickie or Stephanie at 803-794-9440. They will take your reservation at the reduced room rate ($59.00 double room) and reserve space on the same floor as the other tatters. (Slumber party Friday night - Riet from Holland is teaching single shuttle split ring dragonflies!) If you call the main lobby or the reservation center, you will be charged the full rate and put on another floor.
  5. Time to enter a tatted item in the competition is Flying Fast! All Entries must be mailed very soon!!! Entry forms and mailing guidelines can be found at http://www.palmettotatters.org/events/TatDay2003/competitionguidelines.shtml.
