tatted bookmark

Class 1: Friday at 1
Flower Bookmark
Intermediate, Project

Description
Using three shuttles and bridge stitch - if you don't know the bridge stitch yet, here's a good chance to learn - you'll create a bookmark with a field of flowers and learn to manipulate multiple shuttles. If you've got a double-shuttle, here's one way to use it.

Techniques
Multiple Shuttles; Double-bobbin/post shuttle, if you have one; and the bridge stitch.

Supplies
Three shuttles – I recommend post shuttles because they hold more thread.  It may be easiest if they are three different colors. A main and contrasting color thread in the combination of your choice.  A complementary variegated color works well as the contrast color.  Both should be size 10, 20 or 30.  Smaller than 30 will be difficult.  10 or 20 are ideal.
Paper clip, crochet hook and a rubber band or sticky tack putty

Fill two shuttles CTM with your main color.
Fill the third shuttle with the contrast color.

Class 2: Friday at 3

Supplies
Two shuttles, size 20 thread and 52 seed beads. Need six yards of green, threaded with 42 seed beads, wound on one shuttle; five yards of a flower color threaded with 10 seed beads, on the second shuttle.

tatted baskets

Class 3: Saturday at 1:30
3-D Block Stitch Basket
Intermediate, Project

Description
This is a three-D basket constructed like Entrelac knitting, in squares facing in different directions.

Technique
Single-shuttle, chain-only technique

Supplies
About 10-15 yards of thread, size 5 or 3
Crochet hook for joins– size 9-11 is good
One shuttle
Paper clip for holding first picot
Optional: 34 size 6 (“E”) beads and bead threader.  These are threaded on the end of the ball thread before the final round.

Optional Kit: Two sizes of thread, size 5 and size 3, in the amount needed to make a basket - two samples in a package for $2.

tatted baubles

Early Birds: Saturday morning at 6
Beaded Baubles with Bling

Description
These fun-to-tat baubles can be used to create almost instant scissors fobs and ornaments. This is a simple ring-only pattern, perfect for early morning, because you can tat it even if you're half-asleep!

Supplies
For the simple version, you will need 1 small marble and 4 yards of size 20 thread – use a cordonnet – this is important! -  threaded with 120 size 10 or 11 beads.  Also one shuttle.

Optional Kit available in Vending for $1.50 with pre-strung beads on various colors of cordonnet and a bauble (glass gem) for more varied design possibilities.  All proceeds from the kits will be donated to the SPCA.

We’ll have to look at each marble and set of beads not in a kit to determine the right number of repeats.  120 beads means 10 times 12 beads, which will fit many marbles, but might be too large for some.  Each bauble’s bead count has to be divisible by 10.

On Time: As a courtesy to your teacher and your classmates, please arrive ON TIME to your scheduled classes. If you finish your project early, or would like additional time to visit, shop, or see the lace display, you may leave any class early.
