Flutters-Palmetto 2009 Necklace

The objective is to teach students how to handle a lot of beads on two shuttles; the techniques include split rings, and rings thrown off chains, and the way to read Bead Tatting notation and follow the patterns and diagrams.

The goal is to start the project in class and learn enough to complete it later.

Intermediate: Proficient with rings, chains, joins and split rings.

KITS: To save time in class, there will be $12 kits in various colors available. (Order and Pay when you register online and pick-up the kit in vending.) Each kit includes printed pattern for the necklace and beads already on the thread. Note: If you wish to order this kit without taking the class-no problem-the kit will be $15.

Materials: Students need to bring TWO empty shuttles without picks or crochet hooks on tips, and a separate crochet hook.
PRE-STRING about 1,200 seed beads size 11 on 12 - 13 yards of 3-ply Metallic Embroidery thread (DMC or Oren Bayan).

FLY Bracelet and Earrings

The objective of this class is to explore the design possibilities of knots and beads illustrated by 3 projects of simple Two rings/Two chains motifs offered for the class.

Students will learn: How to arrange/place beads in order to create/change the outline and the negative space in tatted piece; how to follow patterns and diagrams, and how to write and rewrite Bead Tatting notation for their individual design.

The goal is to complete one of 3 projects in class, and have a clear understanding of the other 2 projects. The students will be encouraged to come up with their versions of design.

Beginner/Intermediate:  Knowledgeable and proficient with rings, split rings, chains, and joins.
