UPDATE February 23, 2012: THANK YOU to everyone that participated in this event to try to set a world record for tatters. We have heard back from Guinness and they said we needed more than 250 tatters to break the record. We had around 120 when counting those at Tat Days and those around the world that joined us. We may try again one day. Again, THANK YOU to ALL that joined us! |
Friday, September 23, 6:00 to 6:30pm (EST)
Guinness Book of World Records and Facebook
One exciting thing we hope to achieve this year at Tat Days is to get in the
Guinness Book of World Records! Yes! Friday afternoon, between 6 and 6:30 (EST), we will all be tatting the same pattern at the same time-making snowflakes. We will be using our Tat Off! Pattern. When searching the Guinness Records, we found 0 entries for tatting. We will be the first! And the world will know tatting is NOT a lost art!
(Note: In the end, it will be up to the Guinness folks to accept our numbers. We have done the paperwork and have a local person to certify. We will see.) |

THANK YOU for the Snowflakes!
Karen is excited about ALL of the snowflakes that have fluttered in so far and that will flutter in at Tat Days. THANK YOU for your generosity! If you need an idea for a snowflake, look here at Georgia's site. Leave a tail for hanging. If you want it back at the end of Tat Days, just tag it with your name or be sure to let Karen know so she can tag it. Otherwise they will go for a good cause-probably our craft fair box for fundraising to help cover Tat Days costs. You may mail them to Palmetto Tatters Guild,
P.O. Box 1597, Lexington, SC 29071 or email Karen (tatdays@palmettotatters.org) how many you will be bringing on Thursday to Tat Days. THANK YOU!
THANKS for saving 2x6x6 plastic meat containers. Bring your last ones to our September 17th meeting.
Volunteer Opportunties
If you would like to volunteer for anything Tat Days, small or large, PLEASE write Karen at tatdays@palmettotatters.org.
What is Tat Days? Tat Days is a time for all level tatters (tried it a little to advanced) to come together and tat ("art of making lace") for 48 hours. Well maybe only 45; we do sleep a little! There will be a variety of 1.5 to 3 hour classes to select from with various items being created and new techniques being learned. There will be lots of time to chat and learn from other tatters. Show 'N Tell will be exciting as folks bring out works of art they have created. And of course fun, games, and good food. Meet back up with old friends and make new ones. Find out you no longer need to keep tatting by yourself because there are tatters all across the globe. Tatting started out as an edging on sheets and clothing. It is much, much more than that now. As you scroll down this page and browse our site, you will see many examples of tatted lace. Enjoy!
