Level 2 Needle and Shuttle
Description Use one shuttle and ball or tatting needle #8 to make a beautiful pair of earrings with metallic thread and beads.
Skills Required Rings, Chains, Lock Joins, Shoelace Tie, use of Metallic Thread and Beads.
Techniques Taught Concept of ‘up’ and ‘down’ bead placement in ring and chains and beaded picots. Use of switching shuttles to change direction of chains and use of lock join.
Materials/Supplies For a pair of earrings, you will need about 5 yards of 3-ply metallic thread, 320 seed beads size 11 or 12 and two shuttles (or tatting needle #8).
Notes Kit will include: a printed pattern, beads pre-strung on the thread, detailed instructions, earring findings, necklace chain, and a beading needle to hide the ends. Choose gold or silver metallic thread with choice of purple, red, dark blue, light blue, green, iris green, bronze, gold, or silvery pink beads.
These beautiful earrings are the perfect match for Nina’s 3-Row Bracelet! This is a good first project for tatters who never or almost never tried bead tatting. It is a technically oriented project with beads on knotting and core threads.
