Sashiko is a Japanese handcraft that arose as a way to mend clothing. Now, sashiko is appreciated for its beauty and design. In this class students learn basic techniques such as starting, stopping, the ratio for stitches, which thread and fabric to use, and start a quick project.

Materials Needed / Preparation: Kit required and includes: Olympus 2 coaster kit (pre-printed fabric, thread, and instructions), Sashiko thimble, and sashiko needle. Students should also bring scissors and a pen or pencil for taking notes.
