This witch's hat is a great way to explore split rings and pointed chains. Students should be familiar with rings, chains, picots, and joins. Knowledge of split rings is beneficial, but students may learn pointed chains in class.
Materials Needed / Preparation: Thread in black and a second color for the ribbon in size 20, 30, or 40. (Sample made in Olympus Special Gold No. 40.) Four shuttles, scissors, small crochet hook (US 12, 13, or 14), pen or pencil or note taking items, locking crochet stitch marker or coil-less safety pin or loop of thread in larger size and bright color.
